Lian Xin's story

In most Chinese Buddhist temples, there is a designated dining hall exclusively for the monastics, commonly known as the 'Five Contemplations Hall.' Prior to 2022, our Five Contemplations Hall not only provided meals to the resident monastics at our temple but also welcomed the public. These meals were offered free of charge, and many diners voluntarily made donations as a gesture of gratitude. Following extensive renovation work in 2020 and 2021, we made the decision to establish a food court that incorporates the Five Contemplations Hall. This new food court is named Lian Xin Vegetarian Restaurant (Lian Xin) and commenced its operations in early 2022. The Five Contemplations Hall is now exclusively reserved for our monastics for their meals. The public can now purchase and enjoy vegetarian meals at Lian Xin.

Mission

At Lian Xin, our mission is to offer the community affordable, nourishing, and delectable vegetarian meals, all while fostering the teachings of Buddha on compassion, mindfulness, and sustainability.

Initiatives

Lian Xin has been actively expanding its presence within the community by offering top-quality vegetarian cuisine to the public and actively engaging in a wide array of events. A distinctive tradition and accomplishment of ours has been the tradition of providing complimentary meals during Chinese New Year and Vesak Day. This commitment has not only allowed us to express our gratitude to our dedicated devotees but also to showcase our premium vegetarian dishes to a wider audience and establish connections with like-minded individuals who share our values and mission.

As we look ahead, Lian Xin remains resolute in our dedication to promoting the virtues of vegetarianism and continuing to offer affordable, delectable vegetarian meals to the community. We aspire to enhance our influence by introducing new menu options and cultivating partnerships with other organizations to amplify our message and mission.
