The 12 Chinese zodiac signs correspond with the "12 Earthly Branches" (a system of counting used in Ancient China), namely, Zi (Rat), Chou (Ox), Yin (Tiger), Mao (Rabbit), Chen (Dragon), Si (Snake), Wu (Horse), Wei ( Sheep), Shen (Monkey), You (Rooster), Xu (Dog), and Hai (Pig). In combination with the 12 Earthly Branches, the 12 Chinese zodiac signs have become an integral part of Chinese folk religion.
